How to choose the right ski gear for you? - Part 2

Last time we reviewed several things about how to choose the right skis. As I already mentioned, there are some really important things you should pay attention to, before making up your mind and buying the skis. This is your level, the height, weight and type of terrain you will pick up for your holiday.

Not only the skis, but the apparel and accessories are important part of the equipment.

As you all know, the weather in the mountains during the winter season is changing fast, so be prepared. It will be good for you if you buy a pair of thermal underwear, so that it can keep you warm and comfy all the time. There are special ski socks as well, which are with extra cushioning on the parts where the boot applies most pressure on your leg, which will give you softness and comfort during the whole day. The jacket and the trousers should be light, waterproof, windproof and warm, in order to provides protection and warmth.

Many times people have asked me - do I need to wear a helmet even if I am beginner? Yes, you definitely have to! Safety first! There are some very nice helmets with soft cushioning, attractive colors and models and they are offered in different sizes. The best way to understand which is the right size helmet for you, it should be two finger widths just above the eyebrows, directly above the ears and around the widest area at the back of your head. When measuring, the measuring tape should be nearly skin tight without applying constricting pressure.

One other part of the ski outfit, as I can say, that’s the goggles. The best goggles should be with a double lens which will prevent from condensation. It is good to have Anti-fog protection, UV protection and vents along the sides, top and bottom clear the warm air out of the inside of the goggles.

The last thing you might want to get is gloves or mittens. Ski gloves provide less warmth than mittens, but are better choice, because most of them are waterproof and give your fingers more agility while skiing.
